Azerbaijan to discuss establishment of Military Ombudsman

The parliament told APA that this initiative has been put forward by a group of MPs at relevant requests.

For this reason, amendments to the Constitutional Law on the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan” and several military legislation are expected to be discussed.

It is proposed to establish Military Ombudsman as a separate body or under the Office of Human Rights Commissioner. It aims to provide close participation of public in the military buildup and regulation of relations among servicemen.

The draft will likely be included in the agenda of the parliament’s autumn session.
