Azerbaijani Defense Minister receives U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State

. Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov received U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Eric Rubin.
The Defense Ministry’s press service told APA that the guest congratulated Zakir Hasanov on his appointment as defense minister and wished success in the future.
Touching upon the military and political situation in the region, the Defense Minister underlined that Armenia continues its aggressive policy, which protracts the peace process and has a negative impact on the situation in the region.
Stating that productive US-Azerbaijan relations are continued in various spheres, Zakir Hasanov noted achievements in bilateral military cooperation and further development prospects.
Commenting on the regional situation, the guest also touched on the efforts made by the U.S. for building peace and initiatives to expand the relations.
Following this, they exchanged views on other issues related to regional and bilateral cooperation.
U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar also attended the meeting.
